Important Note: While the broker is secure, it is not private. Your topics and data are visible to other authenticated users. To avoid conflicts, choose unique topic names for your projects. For example, instead of “remal/temperature”, use “remal/<YourUsername>/temperature/device01”

Getting Started with mqtt.remal.io

Accessing the Platform:
Log in using the following credentials:

  • Username: remaluser
  • Password: sand971

To maintain service integrity, authentication is required to limit random or unauthorized usage. While authentication restricts access, all data shared on the MQTT broker is publicly visible to other users. Be mindful when sharing sensitive information.

Understand the Topic Structure:
Publish all messages under the “remal/” format. For instance, a device sending temperature readings might use the topic:
“remal/mycoolusername/temperature/device01”.

Publish and Subscribe:

  • Publish: Devices can send data to specific topics.
  • Subscribe: Devices can receive real-time updates from topics.

  • The Shabakah board’s onboard temperature and humidity sensor also sends real-time readings to MQTT topics such as “remal/garden/temperature” and “”remal/garden/humidity.
  • A laptop using Python subscribes to these topics, performing advanced analysis or running AI models to determine the optimal watering schedule based on soil moisture, temperature, and humidity data.
  • The results of the analysis are sent back to the Shabakah board, which activates a water pump to irrigate the garden precisely when needed.
  • The laptop, leveraging Python libraries such as Matplotlib or Pandas, creates graphs and reports from the collected data, providing actionable insights into environmental conditions and system performance over time.
